\"\"<\/a>For the small but vibrant community of people known as \u201cevangelical theologians\u201d or \u201ctheology aficianados\u201d or \u201cthose zealous about the extracalvinisticum,\u201d the annual meeting of the Evangelical Theological Society<\/a> is a big deal.\u00a0 I love ETS.\u00a0 This year\u2019s meeting, centered around the theme \u201cNo Other Name,\u201d will be held this week in San Francisco, California from Wednesday, November 16-Friday, November 18.<\/p>\n

There are a number of fascinating topics on the docket this year, as there always are.\u00a0 Andy Naselli has listed one such event, a panel on the \u201cspectrum of evangelicalism\u201d <\/a>that features several contributors to this notable and needed book<\/a> on the same topic, just published by Naselli and fellow TEDS alum Collin Hansen.<\/p>\n

This panel should be very interesting.\u00a0 You can also see Andy\u2019s carefully enumerated reasons<\/a> to attend ETS.\u00a0 He is characteristically thorough.\u00a0 I would add a fifth reason\u2013because it\u2019s fun!\u2013but I would not wish to do untold violence to his list.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the full listing<\/a> of everything happening at ETS 2011.\u00a0 Wednesday morning\u201311\/16\/11\u2013at 10:10am in Yerba Buena 7 (I have utterly no idea where this is), I\u2019m going to do a paper on this: \u201cOf Holy Grails and the \u2018Evangelical Harvard\u2019: Carl Henry, IFACS, and the Untold Story of the Great Christian University.<\/em>\u00a0 I\u2019m one of four presenters in the Church History: American Christianity section alongside historians A. Donald Macleod of Tyndale Seminary and John Hannah of Dallas Theological Seminary.\u00a0 My topic stems from my dissertation on the re-enchantment of the evangelical mind in the mid-twentieth century, which ranges over figures like Harold Ockenga, Carl Henry, and others.<\/p>\n
