It\u2019s often because of the comments. Sometimes the comments and the comments <em>about<\/em> the comments are<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tokenskeptic.org\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3479\" src=\"https:\/\/freethoughtblogs.com\/sites\/345\/2012\/07\/Comments-196x300.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"196\" height=\"300\"><\/a>\u00a0far better than the blog-post itself.<\/p>\n<p><em>Ahem<\/em>. Just saying, because sometimes it\u2019s true.<\/p>\n<p>In that spirit, try to offer interesting,\u00a0funny, supportive, or thought-provoking comments that contribute to an ongoing discussion.\u00a0After your first comment goes through, which is often moderated (and occasionally fished out of spam \u2013 sorry, the system isn\u2019t perfect), you can continue to comment. <a href=\"http:\/\/dashes.com\/anil\/2011\/07\/if-your-websites-full-of-assholes-its-your-fault.html\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">If a comment is deemed\u00a0spam, particularly\u00a0rude\u00a0or dull\u00a0it may be deleted.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once your first post is approved, you are free to post again however often you\u2019d like \u2013 it\u2019s all about being adults.<\/p>\n<p>Some examples of things to keep in mind:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* <strong>Stick to the arguments and remain civil.<\/strong><br>\n* <strong>Concentrate your arguments against the strongest objections to your view.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thanks to <a href=\"http:\/\/notungblog.wordpress.com\/2012\/07\/08\/advice-for-a-freethought-blog\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Notung<\/a> for suggestions in that regard. In addition, the <a href=\"http:\/\/captainawkward.com\/site-policies-and-faqs\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">FAQ on a site called Captain Awkward is excellent in terms of<em> caveat emptor.\u00a0<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/captainawkward.com\/site-policies-and-faqs\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\"><strong>You may find your comment fails to be posted because of:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\">* bullying, bigotry and harassment<br>\n* <a href=\"http:\/\/derailingfordummies.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">derailing<\/a><br>\n* not contributing to the topic at hand<br>\n* not positively advancing the discussion (e.g: sarcasm, speculations as to purpose that are orthogonal to the topic at hand)<br>\n* making threats<br>\n* creating a sock puppets or anon comments in some cases<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/hoydenabouttown.com\/20120717.12034\/deleting-blog-comments-exercise-of-property-rights-vs-free-speech\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Freedom of speech isn\u2019t the same in Australia as it is in the USA<\/a>. Nor should everyone else\u2019s fun be ruined by comments that fail to maintain a standard of civility.
