Nor are they required to be.<\/p>\n

Not by the local parish, not by the Archdiocese, and\u00a0certainly not by the Pope.<\/p>\n

Behold the great diversity within the Universal Church:<\/em><\/p>\n

  1. Gay<\/a> \u2013 just ask Eve Tushnet<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. A supporter<\/a> of the death penalty<\/li>\n
  3. An opponent<\/a> of the death penalty<\/li>\n
  4. A supporter<\/a> of the 2nd<\/sup> Amendment<\/li>\n
  5. A supporter<\/a> of further gun restrictions<\/li>\n
  6. A supporter<\/a> of tougher immigration laws<\/li>\n
  7. A supporter<\/a> of a pathway to citizenship for illegal aliens<\/li>\n
  8. A political<\/a> liberal<\/li>\n
  9. A political<\/a> conservative<\/li>\n
  10. A sinner <\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Yes, that last one was just\u00a0way\u00a0too easy:<\/p>\n

    For all have sinned and are deprived of the glory of God<\/em> (Romans 3:23).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

    In fact, that\u2019s why we\u2019re all here in the first place, isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n
