At least that\u2019s how it feels.<\/p>\n

College campuses aflame with pubescent rage,<\/p>\n

Demanding fairy-tale endings and fictive safe harbors<\/p>\n

When hell itself has all but been loosed upon us.<\/p>\n

Narcissistic ramblings supplant political discourse,<\/p>\n

Opinions scrutinized wholly by emotional self-truths.<\/p>\n

What once was solid, and concrete, and firm<\/p>\n

Now feels fluid, and abstract, and yielding.<\/p>\n

Even among those who profess charity, and mercy, and love<\/p>\n

Anger and bitter obsession seem most often to prevail.<\/p>\n

I tire. I stress. I feel moved to abandon.<\/p>\n

It is your peace, your comfort for which I thirst,<\/p>\n

I cry out for your warmth. I reach out for your hand.<\/p>\n

Help me to turn my eyes from the dis-ease that everywhere surrounds.<\/p>\n

And to secure some sort of\u00a0savage detachment<\/em>,<\/p>\n

Away from all things here, all things now.<\/p>\n

Let my soul slowly breathe, once again,<\/p>\n

In rhythm with your spirit.<\/p>\n

And let me, finally, grasp the depths of your love for us,<\/p>\n

As I try harder, now, to find you in the face of the other.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Peace<\/p>\n
