<\/a><\/p>\nSave me, God,\u00a0for the waters have reached my neck. I have sunk into the mire of the deep, where there is no foothold. I have gone down to the watery depths; the flood overwhelms me<\/em> \u2013 Psalm 69<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
As we, as a nation,\u00a0become more and more enmeshed\u00a0in all that now gathers so violently around\u00a0us, as we tilt our heads upwards and ask: Where Are You<\/em>?, perhaps we shouldn\u2019t be all that surprised to find that same question turned back towards us: Where Have <\/em>You Been<\/em>?<\/p>\n
Words of peace have escaped my lips,<\/p>\n
Even as\u00a0my fingers have wept with blood.<\/p>\n
My eyes turned away,\u00a0then inward,<\/p>\n
All the better to deny the other.<\/p>\n
But the darkness reflected back reminded me<\/p>\n
That no\u00a0two truly diverge,<\/p>\n
Imaged from above, an author of one.<\/p>\n
No movement, no thought,\u00a0no will<\/p>\n
Ever annulled by dictate.<\/p>\n
And choices freely made\u00a0now override\u00a0my pleas.<\/p>\n
My astonishment\u00a0at all of the brokenness<\/p>\n
Offers up only pointed confirmation<\/p>\n
Of my failure to\u00a0timely gather my talent,<\/p>\n
My time, my compassion, my mercy.<\/p>\n
Or even, really,\u00a0to begin my journey<\/p>\n
Seeking your grace, aligning\u00a0my ways.<\/p>\n
Yes, the hour has grown late.<\/p>\n
And I all too quickly have grown weary.<\/p>\n
I fear that I will be dragged down<\/p>\n
Without your loving\u00a0grip.<\/p>\n
Still,\u00a0I reach out my hand, seeking yours.<\/p>\n
And so now I wait.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Peace<\/p>\n
