Catherine Caimano<\/a> has a post at Faith & Leadership<\/a> which offers a critical look at the Wild Goose Festival.\u00a0 Her bottom-line critique: Not Enough Jesus<\/strong>.\u00a0 She got this impression, it seems, from attending a few sessions and overhearing people talk in private conversations.<\/p>\n

Among the elements to which she refers is the \u201cSexuality and Justice<\/a>\u201d panel that I moderated.\u00a0 What\u2019s interesting is that I used an extended biblical illustration connecting Jesus\u2019 healing of the man lowered through the roof with Peter\u2019s healing of the cripple by the Temple gate in Acts 3.\u00a0 After that session, several people stopped me to thank me for talking about Jesus and the Bible.\u00a0 One young couple said, \u201cWe love it here, but we\u2019re youth pastors in a conservative church and it\u2019s tough for us to bring what we\u2019re hearing back.\u00a0 Thanks for using the Bible \u2014 we haven\u2019t heard much Bible here.\u201d<\/p>\n

My session on prayer was similarly obsessed with the Bible and Jesus\u2019 teaching on prayer, to the vocal consternation of some in the crowd.<\/p>\n

Jay Bakker\u2019s talk was explicitly about Jesus\u2019 welcoming of people in his ministry.<\/p>\n

And Nadia Bolz-Weber\u2019s homily at the Bluegrass Liturgy was vintage Nadia: Lutheran, biblical, and christocentric.<\/p>\n

I could go on, but I\u2019d start sounding defensive. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
