Bad food + evangelism = bad evangelism<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>

I\u2019ve written about some crazy evangelism techniques, like in\u00a0The New Christians<\/a><\/em>, wherein I highlighted the use of urinal screens with your church\u2019s name on it<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Now Craig Goodwin<\/a> points us to a fellow foodie who is questioning a door knocker that a local church hung on her knob. \u00a0In the bag were several non-offensive items. \u00a0But:<\/p>\n

Then I got to the coupon for McDonald\u2019s. Stapled to it was a card that read \u201cCome visit us on Sunday\u2026 Then go for a Sundae!\u201d and quoted the Psalms \u201cTaste and see that the Lord is good.\u201d I kid you not.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Craig goes on from there to ask, Is is a sin for church\u2019s to give away McDonald\u2019s gift cards? <\/a><\/strong> His response, in part:<\/p>\n

If churches hope to connect with these folks they can\u2019t be indifferent about food and food choices<\/strong>. As we\u2019re finding with our Orthodox fast, there are rich resources in the Christian tradition to draw from in engaging issues around food.
