So, I\u2019m currently living my own version of a Portlandia sketch<\/a>, watching as many episodes of Battlestar Gallactica per day as I can without losing my job or getting my electricity shut off. I\u2019m just about to complete season three (SO DON\u2019T TELL ME HOW IT ENDS!!!).<\/p>\n

And, it occurs to me that the typologies present in the show\u2019s characters are quite applicable to the Emergent Church Movement, another fleet of renegade survivors.<\/p>\n

Brian McLaren as Admiral Adama<\/strong>: Wise, whispery leader who often takes chances on people he shouldn\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Doug Pagitt as Helo<\/strong>: Tall warrior who doesn\u2019t obey rules most of the time but usually picks the right side.<\/p>\n

Steve Knight as Mr. Gata<\/strong>: Technical whiz kid who once worked for the other side.<\/p>\n

Nadia Bolz-Weber as Kara \u201cStarbuck\u201d Thrace<\/strong>: Tattooed ace pilot who\u2019s has a potty mouth and often gets in trouble with authority.<\/p>\n

Tim Keel as Lee \u201cApollo\u201d Adama<\/strong>: Favorite son who left Gallactica for Pegasus, only to return.<\/p>\n
