I\u2019ve never encountered\u00a0Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque before her name came up for me today on Jen Fulwiler\u2019s Saint Generator<\/a>. \u00a0It looks like she is best known for her devotion to Christ\u2019s Sacred Heart<\/a> (and for pioneering that devotion before it was general Catholic practice). \u00a0But, when I looked over her saint\u2019s page<\/a>, I was most struck by this line:<\/p>\n

Received a revelation from Our Lord in\u00a01675, which included 12 promises to her and to those who practiced a true to devotion to His\u00a0Sacred Heart, whose\u00a0crown of thorns\u00a0represent his sacrifices. The devotion encountered violent opposition, especially in\u00a0Jansenist<\/a>\u00a0areas, but has become widespread and popular.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I was intrigued enough to click through on the reference to Jansenist (which it turns out I had mistaken for\u00a0Jainism<\/a>) and learned that Jansenism is a heresy that teaches:<\/p>\n
