The Renaissance Faire this weekend was lovely. \u00a0I\u2019m putting up two photos here, and I want to give credit where it\u2019s due. \u00a0I made my dress last summer using Butterick pattern B4571<\/a>, \u00a0which was easy to follow. \u00a0I adapted the pattern for my boyfriend\u2019s surcoat from a tutorial on Corvus Tristis<\/a>. \u00a0I got the insignia by googling \u201chufflepuff badger\u201d until I found something I could trace. \u00a0Oh, and I only wish<\/em>\u00a0I could claim I had something to do with the armor in the picture at the end, but I bought that at the fair.<\/p>\n

If you prefer your nerdiness a little more high-tech and futuristic, I\u2019ve just found out that Portal <\/em>is available as a free download through Tuesday<\/a>. \u00a0I\u2019ve always heard it highly recommended (Ars Technica<\/em>\u00a0wrote: \u201cPortal<\/em> is one of the rare games that can change the way we think about the world, how we view the physical space around us.\u201d), so I\u2019m really excited to give it a try. \u00a0Like pattern alteration, Portal<\/em>\u00a0turns on spatial reasoning.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll get something up to start responding to comments on \u201cThe Soup Nazi Approach to Sex<\/a>\u201d this afternoon or early tomorrow. \u00a0In the meantime, here\u2019s another shot of our costumes.<\/p>\n
