In June of 2010, I had a debate with Justin Martyr of the now defunct blog The Faith Heuristic on the topic \u201cR: The Evidence Supports the Existence of God.\u201d \u00a0Unfortunately Justin has taken down his blog in the interim, so his parts of the debate are lost to the winds of the internet. \u00a0I\u2019ve collected my posts below, and I think you can still piece together most of the arguments.<\/p>\n

  1. Rebuttal to Justin (Part 1)<\/a> \u2013 Justin began the debate with Kalam\u2019s Cosmological Argument<\/a> and I reply by talking about the weirdness of first causes that precede time and the difficulty of making predictions about them<\/li>\n
  2. Rebuttal to Justin (Part 2)<\/a> \u2013 To address Justin\u2019s fine-tuning argument, I talk about the Drake Equation and unknown unknowns.<\/li>\n
  3. My Opening Statement<\/a> \u2013 Demonstrating the\u00a0likelihood\u00a0of a First Cause isn\u2019t the same thing as proving the existence of God. \u00a0You have to talk about some of this Cause\u2019s properties<\/li>\n
  4. My Closing Statement<\/a> \u2013 Justin accuses me of a \u2018naturalism of the gaps,\u2019 and I think his soteriology is really weird. \u00a0Exeunt omnes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
