<\/a><\/p>\n<\/a>\u2014 1 \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n The anti-gnostic cooking project continues on apace. \u00a0This week I made cheddar-chive scones<\/a> (the second thing I\u2019ve ever cooked!).<\/p>\n Some friends came over and nommed them up with me while we watched Of Gods and Men<\/em> which is (a) stellar and (b) also helpfully anti-gnostic in its own way.<\/p>\n I\u2019d appreciate any easy recipes I could attempt in the future (but be patient, I\u2019m travelling the next two weekends). \u00a0And keep in mind that I\u2019m picky eater and I hate most food (but especially meat, tomato sauce, and many colloids<\/a>).<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/a>\u2014 2 \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n While I\u2019m trying to cultivate an appreciation for the concrete and physical, maybe some of you want to spend more time getting into the abstract. \u00a0It\u2019s your last chance to sign up for Udacity\u2019s<\/a> new set of seven week computer science classes. \u00a0I just did the p-set for my Web Application Engineering class and I\u2019m pretty excited. \u00a0The intro class has no prerequisites and by the end of the term, you\u2019ll have build a bare-bones search engine. \u00a0Woo!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/a>\u2014 3 \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n What does it say about me that I\u2019ve never (to my knowledge) heard a Tupac song, but I have heard of the Pepper\u2019s Ghost<\/a> setup that was used to set up a faux-holograph for his performance? \u00a0The trick is pretty cool (and Ars Technica has a good explanation<\/a>) and it\u2019s the kind of thing you can try at home for Halloween depending on the layout of your house.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n <\/a>\u2014 4 \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n The Tupac hologram turned out to be an illusory illusion instead of true hologram, but you have my word of honor that the picture below is not any kind of trick:<\/p>\n An Italian art museum, frustrated by a lack of funding, has started burning paintings<\/a>. \u00a0Like a supervillian, they\u2019ve pledged to burn three paintings a week until their demands are met. \u00a0So far, all the artists have consented to their works being torched, but that could change at any time.<\/p>\n <\/a>\u2014 5 \u2014<\/strong><\/p>\n The last Quick Take featured a questionable use of fire, but I\u2019m sure we can all agree that the below video (via Win!<\/a>) is objectively awesome:<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
