\u20131\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\nThis week I announced my revamped posting schedule<\/a> for the blog, and the new series on the only religion I ever wished I could convert to will start on Sunday.<\/p>\n
In the meantime, I thought I\u2019d use the 7 Quick Takes this week to give a rundown of what I get up to at school, especially as a belated apology\/explanation for the sparse posts as school was kicking off.<\/p>\n
\u20132\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\n
First things first.\u00a0 I\u2019m a senior political science major, and I\u2019m also in a 5-year Masters program in Public Health, so my schedule ends up pulled every which way.\u00a0 This semester I\u2019ll be taking<\/p>\n

I had to decide between doing a full year senior essay in political science or taking the seminar on Sondheim.\u00a0 And by \u2018had to decide\u2019 I mean \u2018had to pick Sondheim.\u2019\u00a0 One small illustration of why I love him so:<\/p>\n<\/iframe>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u20133\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Aside from this blog (and plenty of papers for class), I do my writing at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yaledailynews.com\/staff\/leah-libresco\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Yale Daily News<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/leah-anthony-libresco\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Huffington Post<\/a>.\u00a0 The YDN columns are supposed to occur once every two weeks, barring a shakeup, and I\u2019m trying to stick to writing for HuffPo on the off week.\u00a0 We\u2019ll see how long that lasts.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/huff.to\/aM4gcL\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Today\u2019s HuffPo column<\/a> takes a critical look at the planned Koran burnings for the anniversary of September 11th.\u00a0 Pastor Terry Jones\u2019s actions are deplorable, but they are not unreasonable within the context of his religious practices.\u00a0 So how can we use religious practices as a way to evaluate the truth or morality of their theologies?<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u20134\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>This week was particularly fun since my friend and I were holding auditions for the production of Iolanthe that we\u2019re co-directing this term and that meant I got a lot of chances to try to quickly explain the typically convoluted Gilbert and Sullivan plot.<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/math.boisestate.edu\/gas\/iolanthe\/bab\/iol_dove.gif\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/math.boisestate.edu\/gas\/iolanthe\/bab\/iol_dove.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"247\" border=\"0\"><\/a><\/div>\n<p>\u201cSo, you see there\u2019s a boy who\u2019s in love with an ingenue who\u2019s the ward of a Lord Chancellor who lusts after her and once trysted with a fairy who was thrown out of the fairy kingdom for loving a mortal and giving birth to a half-fairy son who\u2019s in love with an ingenue who\u2019s the ward of a Lord Chancellor\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u20135\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>The center of my life on campus remains the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.yale.edu\/ypu\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\">Yale Political Union<\/a>.\u00a0 We just came off a very successful debate with Karl Rove, and I\u2019m really excited for the guests we have this semester.\u00a0 A definite highlight: a debate in October on gay marriage between Maggie Gallagher and Evan Wolfson, both members of the YPU when they attended Yale.<\/p>\n<p>I love getting the chance to question and argue with popular pundits every week on the Union floor.\u00a0 It\u2019s even more satisfying than yelling them at them through the TV screen, and the responses are much more interesting when they\u2019re real.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u20136\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>I love working on craft projects (though I\u2019m always over-optimistic about how much I\u2019ll do when I pack supplies).\u00a0 So far, most of the space in my room that isn\u2019t occupied by bookshelves is heaped over with fabric, yarn, spraypaint, assorted electrical components and a sewing machine.\u00a0 After all, the countdown to Halloween has already begun!<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u20137\u2013<\/strong><\/div>\n<p>And I\u2019d hate to end the list without mentioning one of my all time favorite extracurriculars:<\/p>\n<div class=\"separator\" style=\"clear: both;
