<\/a><\/p>\nOne slight redesign this week. \u00a0You\u2019ll notice at the top of the blog a new tab marked \u2018Featured Series<\/a>.\u2019 \u00a0You can use this page to browse through special sequences of linked posts on this blog. \u00a0Check out my math and morality series<\/a>\u00a0or my sequence on gay marriage<\/a>, the final post of which (\u201cDo we care about marriage too much?<\/a>\u201d is now up).<\/p>\n Over at the Huffington Post, I have a column up in response to the kerfuffle about Sarah Palin possibly rolling her eyes at a teacher<\/a>. \u00a0Here\u2019s a quote from my take: \u201cThe Left is Wrong about Why Palin is Wrong<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n In the 2010 elections, liberals ought to be able to defeat Paul and Angle because their policies are laughable, not because their gaffes are. If the Democratic Party can\u2019t make a persuasive case on the merits of these policies\u2013some of the most basic protections for vulnerable Americans\u2013 we don\u2019t deserve to win.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n Hands down, my favorite thing I read this week was Eric Hague\u2019s essay at McSweeney\u2019s titled: \u201cOur Daughter isn\u2019t a Selfish Brat; Your Son Just Hasn\u2019t Read Atlas Shrugged<\/em><\/a>\u201c. Here\u2019s a quote (h\/t First Things<\/a>):<\/p>\n When little Aiden toddled up our daughter Johanna and asked to play with her Elmo ball, he was, admittedly, very sweet and polite. I think his exact words were, \u201cHave a ball, peas [sic]?\u201d And I\u2019m sure you were very proud of him for using his manners.<\/p>\n To be sure, I was equally proud when Johanna yelled, \u201cNo! Looter!\u201d right in his looter face, and then only marginally less proud when she sort of shoved him.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n I\u2019ll confess, I\u2019ve been following the dispatches from the spies<\/a> at the Americans for Truth about Homosexuality conference with only mild interest, but I was extremely amused by the latest comment<\/a> fom the Friendly Atheist. \u00a0Hermant tallies at least four known spies at an event whose attendance was estimated to be about 45. \u00a0Reminds me of this Far Side cartoon:<\/p>\n
