I\u2019ve just finished reading Sigrid Undset\u2019s life of Catherine of Siena<\/a>, and I\u2019m a little embarrassed to admit that most of my knowledge of the lives of the Saints comes from Wikipedia. \u00a0Admittedly, Catherine was no less terrifying at book length than in a short article, but sitting down with Undset\u2019s book helped me take her in a bit more\u00a0in toto<\/em>, instead of as a timeline of miraculous acts and grotesque suffering.<\/p>\n

But I haven\u2019t read many other hagiographies. \u00a0I\u2019ve read G.K. Chesterton\u2019s lives of St Francis<\/a> and St Thomas Aquinas<\/a>\u00a0and I think that\u2019s pretty much it. \u00a0In terms of the writings of the saints themselves, I\u2019ve read Augustine\u2019s\u00a0Confessions<\/a><\/em> and I have Edith Stein\u2019s\u00a0 Essays on Women<\/em><\/a>\u00a0coming my way through interlibrary loan.<\/p>\n

Are there other works that people would particularly recommend?<\/p>\n
