Samhain, known as Halloween to some of you, \u00a0is one of my favorite times of year. \u00a0This is one of my new favorite Pagan crafts- the Flying Dead. I wasn\u2019t sure what to call them, dead fairies, skeleton fairies, some people in my facebook group<\/a> suggested Skelefae, Fairy of the bones, Carcass Fairy, or Bone nymphs. Whatever you call them, they are one of the easiest and coolest Samhain crafts around. People keep asking me if these have a reason or spiritual intent, there can be, but it isn\u2019t necessary. We made these ones just for fun.<\/p>\n

Anyone can make these if they are old enough to handle the glue gun, or you can help them with that part if they are too little. I wish I had thought of this when I was a Girl Scout leader, but I am not ashamed to say that my godkids ( who are in their 20\u2019s) had fun making these last weekend. We may even make some more.<\/p>\n

Small plastic skeletons<\/p>\n

Small Butterflies \u2013 these can be fabric, rubber or whatever you like<\/p>\n

Tumbled stones, Beads and baubles for decoration<\/p>\n

Spray paint<\/p>\n

Hot Glue gun<\/p>\n

Glue sticks<\/p>\n

Imagination<\/p>\n

Assemble all your ingredients together. Remove the butterfly wings from the butterfly body if necessary. Some of the ones we purchased had pins or something on the back, you may need to remove these also if it makes it easier to attach. Spray paint the skeletons, let dry. We used gold spray paint, but any color you like would work. Hot glue the wings to the skeleton body. Then add whatever decoration you like. To our \u201cskeleton fairies\u201d we added bells, feathers, some tumbled stone beads, and word charms that I had lying around. My godson attached the word faith to the groin area of his skeleton, he claims it was in honor of Joss Whedon, but I will leave that logic to your imagination.<\/p>\n
