A few years ago, a band<\/a> that I was in had the privilege of playing a show in New York City along with Rev. Billy of the Church of Stop Shopping<\/a>, the star of and mastermind behind an upcoming documentary called What Would Jesus Buy?<\/em><\/a> The documentary, out this week from what I understand, is produced by Morgan Spurlock, who directed and starred in Super-Size Me<\/em>.<\/p>\n Rev. Billy was brilliant when I saw him \u201clive,\u201d giving a sermon by himself in between the musical acts \u2014 mostly loud, screamy hardcore\/metal bands. And he\u2019s only gotten more brilliant in the last few years, staging \u201cexorcisms\u201d at Starbucks and Victoria\u2019s Secret locations in New York City, and taking his \u201cStop Shopping Choir\u201d across the country for more elaborate stage shows.<\/p>\n Read a piece on the film by Democracy Now!<\/a>\u2018s Amy Goodman here<\/a>, and check out the trailer below.<\/p>\n
