In my personal experience, children are excellent at doing this. In fact, I suspect that, since they are not philosophizing<\/em> when they do it, they are often better at stating the obvious in plain and clear terms than most professional philosophers\u2014myself included\u2014are.<\/p>\n Here is one example that just occurred over dinner between me and my four-year-old son, Tomas:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Father<\/strong>: Tomas, how does your milk taste?<\/p>\n Son<\/strong>: Like milk.<\/p>\n Father<\/strong>: Like milk?<\/p>\n Son<\/strong>: Yes.<\/p>\n Father<\/strong>: Well that sounds reasonable!<\/p>\n Son<\/strong>: Yes; wouldn\u2019t it be silly if it tasted like lettuce? (son laughing)<\/p>\n Father<\/strong>: Indeed!
