Can someone tell me why it is acceptable to ridicule of Obama by acting as if his supporters view him as the messiah<\/a>? I really do not get it. I find it appalling.<\/p>\n

It would be one thing if someone really did use messianic claims for themselves. Then it would be appropriate\u00a0to point this out and explain why they are wrong.\u00a0However, Obama is not doing this.\u00a0 What, exactly, is the point of such dishonest politics? Don\u2019t you think it will create a backlash?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Not surprising to anyone who reads this blog, I believe G.W. Bush and his call to bring democracy to the world is\u00a0the closest thing to\u00a0political messianism we have seen in recent American politics. It\u00a0certainly brings out a\u00a0 secular-utopian\u00a0<\/a>vision. He believes that it is democracy which saves people from the cruelty of tyrants. He believes he is\u00a0helping to bring democracy to the world. But he is\u00a0ignoring the fact that many\u00a0tyrants have come out of democracies, and the system of government within a nation won\u2019t determine how belligerent that nation is. While I think it is right to debate\u00a0Bush\u2019s policies,\u00a0it would be\u00a0ridiculous to create \u201cBush the Messiah\u201d websites because of his views.\u00a0Moreover, it wouldn\u2019t lead to people\u00a0questioning\u00a0Bush, but my intellectual honesty. \u00a0<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
