Almost 2 months after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-senate-unveils-118-billion-bipartisan-bill-tighten-border-security-aid-2024-02-04\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">bill\u2019s introduction<\/a>, the GOP-led House still hasn\u2019t brought a vote to the floor.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2627\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2627\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2627 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/1836\/2024\/02\/Polotics-1-resized-300x200.png\" alt=\"GOP\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2627\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image by Pixabay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While Speaker Johnson claims to be doing God\u2019s work, yet, the truth is he\u2019s only bowing to and following former president Trump.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Deception<\/li>\n<li>Abusing power<\/li>\n<li>Uncompassionate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Despite all of this conservatives believe they are doing God\u2019s will, but clearly they\u2019re only pursuing their political agendas in the name of God. Christian nationalism is man\u2019s attempt to justify its selfish desires.<\/p>\n<p>Christian nationalists believe they are justified to be above the law. Just yesterday the <a href=\"https:\/\/rollcall.com\/2024\/03\/19\/supreme-court-lets-texas-enforce-state-law-allowing-deportation\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Supreme Court<\/a> attempted to handle Texas\u2019 right to prosecute illegal immigrants and kicked the can to a lower court who disagreed just hours later.\u00a0 In the end, God always does what He wants and His ways are the opposite of ours (Isaiah 55:9-9!)<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Opposite<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>In this cursed world, we can see the power struggle going on between God\u2019s way and the selfish ways of men. Since God is pure and we aren\u2019t, our ways are the opposite of His.<\/p>\n<p>Christianity has warned against fo0llowing the ways of man and this world for almost 2000 years (Matthew 15:7-9, Romans 12:1-4, 1 Corinthians 1:1, James 1:14-15), because the ways of this world are temporary (James 4:4, 1 John 2:16.)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2834\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2834\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2834 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/1836\/2024\/03\/Nationalism-2-resized-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Easter \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2834\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image by Pixabay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>As we near Easter, Lent reminds us to change our ways and walk in the steps of Jesus. The Apostle Paul understood this world\u2019s ways lead us away from God because they are the opposite of His nature (Proverbs number 14:12, Colossians 3:2.)<\/p>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><\/h2>\n<h2><em><strong>H\u0113p\u0304e\u1e35<\/strong><\/em><\/h2>\n<p>I\u2019m reminded of how Judaism teaches God\u2019s people to be set apart from this world (Deuteronomy 14:2.) God\u2019s people are called to be countercultural to the world.<\/p>\n<p>The Hebrew word in the Old Testament for opposite is <em>H\u0113p\u0304e\u1e35<\/em> and it can also mean, \u201ccontrary, a difference, or perversity.\u201d The world\u2019s ways are the opposite of God\u2019s and perverse.<\/p>\n<p>Judaism teaches God\u2019s people to live God\u2019s way, not the world\u2019s way or even their own beliefs (Psalm 25:8-9; 32:8, Proverbs 3:5-7.) The Apostle Paul leaned on his Jewish upbringing when he outlined the differences between the fruit of the Spirit and the fruit of the flesh (Galatians 5:22-26.)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Love\/hate or indifference<\/li>\n<li>Joy\/despair<\/li>\n<li>Peace\/anxiety<\/li>\n<li>Patience\/impatience<\/li>\n<li>Kindness\/rudeness<\/li>\n<li>Goodness\/evil<\/li>\n<li>Faithfulness\/unfaithful<\/li>\n<li>Gentleness\/harsh<\/li>\n<li>Self-Control\/undisciplined<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The ways of God\u2019s people must be the opposite of the world\u2019s and even our own selfish hearts. This is why Jesus taught His followers to deny themselves daily (Matthew 16:24.)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2837\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2837\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2837 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/1836\/2024\/03\/Nationalism-3-resized-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Heaven \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2837\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image by Pixabay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Jesus was sinless because He wasn\u2019t a part of this fallen world. He may have been tempted by it but chose God\u2019s way over the world\u2019s (Matthew 16:26.)<\/p>\n<p>Jesus understood Heaven will be better than whatever this world has to offer us and this world isn\u2019t Heaven (Philippians 3:20-21, Revelation 22:1-5.)<\/p>\n<p>Christianity teaches God\u2019s people are to be counter-cultural just like heaven is the opposite of earth. It means being like Jesus, not this world!<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>Christianity<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The Christian <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/JyudXzkOBTs?si=dkYQoGdcM8zpwaVX\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">faith<\/a> has always reminded God\u2019s people to live God\u2019s way (Leviticus 23:1-44, Romans 6:1-23.)\u00a0 The world\u2019s ways are the opposite of Christianity.<\/p>\n<p>Jesus even rebuked the Pharisees and the religious leaders of His day for not practicing what they preached (Matthew 23:1-5.) Even God\u2019s people can be the opposite of God.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2840\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2840\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2840 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-media.patheos.com\/blogs\/sites\/1836\/2024\/03\/Nationalism-4-resized-300x200.png\" alt=\"Christianity \" width=\"300\" height=\"200\"><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2840\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Image by Pixabay<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When we follow the ways of the world, we are being disobedient and doing the opposite of what God says for us to do.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Love others before ourselves<\/li>\n<li>Be humble<\/li>\n<li>Be patient<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>it is the Christian call to take care of others (Matthew 25:31-46, 1 Timothy 2:1.) Clearly, <a href=\"https:\/\/maga.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Maga<\/a> and the America first policies are anti-Christian.<\/p>\n<p>When religious <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tpusa.com\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">radicals<\/a> and politicians stop at nothing to get what they want, they are <em>H\u0113p\u0304e\u1e35!<\/em><\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Three months into the year there has still been no movement on the Texas border crisis, although it has dominated the news headlines, it is still just a big mess.
