Just read \u201cThe Bright Green City: Alex Steffen\u2019s Optimistic Environmentalism,\u201d in the April, 2010 The Sun<\/i>, and am encouraged about the possibilities for the future.\u00a0 This is the kind of going-beyond gloom and doom, despair and paralysis that warms my little heart.<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Steffen thinks we\u2019ve got 25 years to make the changes that need to be made to save the planet but sees what may be the beginning of a groundswell of public opinion and action.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cWe have five years to start making big changes, twenty years to finish making them here, and at most another forty years to spread those changes to every corner of the earth,\u201d he says.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cOptimism,\u201d he says, \u201cis a political act\u2026. What\u2019s really radical is being willing to look right at the problems we face and still insist that we can solve them.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n
