I didn\u2019t know Steve well although we connected at conferences a few times over the past decade or so. He shared some old Katagiri stories with me that I hadn\u2019t heard before which is always a treat.<\/p>\n

And at a difficult time in my life, Steve was enormously kind and now I feel very grateful for his brief presence here on this little blue-green-dumpling planet.<\/p>\n

The link above also has Steve\u2019s ceremony when he stepped down as abbot a few weeks ago. I found the ceremony so tender and was especially impacted by how Steve so matter-of-factly referred to his own death.<\/p>\n
