What\u2019s the deep meaning of this?<\/p>\n
\u201cOuch, ouch!\u201d<\/p>\n
That\u2019s really all there is to the buddhadharma \u2013 not much at all.<\/p>\n
Deshan was famous for his strong spirit, shouting and beating the delusion out of anyone who happened by. Here, though, life and death are giving him a beating. He\u2019s gotten old and soft like an overripe persimmon ready to go \u201cSplat!\u201d<\/p>\n
Reminds me of the long-ripe and soft-spoken Myogen Steve Stucky. Here\u2019s his death poem \u2013<\/p>\n
DEATH POEM<\/strong><\/p>\nThis human body truly is the entire cosmos
\nEach breath of mine, is equally one of yours, my darling

After the encounter with the monk, Deshan said, \u201cYou lay your hands on the sky and chase after echoes, exhausting your mind and body. You wake up from the dream and realize it was not. In the end what is there to do?\u201d<\/p>\n
The text says, \u201cOnce [Deshan] was done talking he sat peacefully and passed away.\u201d<\/p>\n
