Really.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'>This is from Mike Cross\u2019 website, <a href=\"http:\/\/the-middle-way.org\/subpage8.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Middle Way<\/a>. He provides a very clear and concise character study of this very important text and the opportunity to see the meaning inside the words.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'> <\/span><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'>I got into this last night while preparing for Saturday\u2019s webinar and really got quite distracted by it \u2013 wonderful stuff.\u00a0 Goes to show what a big difference a translation can make. The connection with the <i>Fukanzazengi <\/i>is Dogen\u2019s comment in the <i>Genjokoan<\/i> (next up for the 100 days) that when the <a href='https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/library\/buddhism' target='_blank'>dharma<\/a> hasn\u2019t penetrated into one\u2019s body and mind, we think we\u2019re full of it and when it has, we feel there\u2019s some lack.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'>Below is the Soto Translation Committee\u2019s rendition followed by Mike\u2019s. I especially like Mike\u2019s \u201cgetting the body out\u201d because it points to the importance of manifesting through the body rather than just soaring in emotional intoxication with our \u201cprofound\u201d spiritual states.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'>Check it out:<br><\/span><\/span><br><span style=\"font-size: large\"><span style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'> <i>Suppose you are confident in your understanding and rich in enlightenment, gaining the wisdom that knows at a glance, attaining the way and clarifying the mind, arousing an aspiration to reach for the heavens.
