This week in the 100-days practice we begin to focus on the culminating passages from Dogen\u2019s Genjokoan<\/i>, including this call to realization:\u00a0<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n When a person attains realization,<\/i><\/span><\/p><\/div>\n But here \u201cwater\u201d refers to this body and mind and all our ancient, twisted karma. Is your body itself, great or small?\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n In the face of this pointed question, \u201cIs the body great or small?\u201d (or any true koan) ideas fabricated by bifurcating consciousness miss it \u2013 they lack the power to embody the great earth\u2019s goldeness. So we must go beyond the bifurcating consciousness.\u00a0 You can\u2019t do this by thinking any more than you can wash mud with mud.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/div>\n \u201cDang,\u201d said Yaoshan, \u201cyou are one whacked-out dude.
