We\u2019re digging into this question during this 100 day period and cultivating the empty field of mind and heart by reflecting on aspects of the <\/span>Genjokoan: Actualizing the Fundamental Point<\/span><\/span> that are essential to see what the monk saw.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here is one such passage:<\/p>\n


<\/span>Firewood becomes ash. <\/span><\/span> <\/span>Ash cannot turn back into firewood again. <\/span><\/span> <\/span>However, we should not view ash as after and firewood as before. <\/span><\/span> <\/span>We should know that firewood dwells in the dharma<\/a> position of firewood and it has it own before and after. <\/span><\/span> <\/span>Although there is before and after, past and future are cut off. <\/span><\/span>\n

Question especially for the practice period participants to dig into: When doing one thing is there anything else? (i.e., is today just today?) I encourage responses that follow examining the question in the midst of living practice.<\/p>\n
