\u201cBy the end of this year there will be a billion people on this planet that actively use social networking sites. The one thing they all have in common is that they\u2019re going to die.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

So begins Adam Ostrow\u2019s fleeting TED talk.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

One implication of where the technology\u2019s going: the more you put out there, the more accurate will be your<\/span><\/span> post-mortem<\/span><\/span>, computer generated blog simulation. Imagine, Wild Fox Zen and Monkey Mind, etc., off-gassing for eternity!<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The holographic everybody is also not so far off. A computer generated, three-dimensional representation that will be able to predict our reaction to events in the future, based on our <\/span><\/span>thousands of entries on Blogger, Twitter, and Facebook<\/span><\/span>, showing up in \u201creal time.\u201d <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Dead people might be attending family functions, giving dharma<\/a> talks \u2026 oh, and how about this \u2013 even ordaining living people as priests \u2013 all from the grave.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Oh, the possibilities! Dogen-zenji might show up at the local Zen Center for a talk \u2013 the Shobogenzo and Eiheikoroku oughta be enough data to simulate something! Or how about, this on a marquee:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis Sunday at the Everything is Beautiful Zen Center, Shakyamuni Buddha meets Hakuin.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ok. I\u2019ve had too much coffee this morning and better go grocery shopping in a unsimulated manner.\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
