A monk approached and said, \u201cMaster, the nature of wind is permanent and there is no place it does not reach. Why then do you fan yourself?\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough you understand that the nature of the wind is permanent,\u201d Mayu replied,\u201d you do not understand the meaning of its reaching everywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is the meaning of its reaching everywhere?\u201d asked the monk again.<\/p>\n<p>Mayu just kept fanning himself. The monk bowed deeply.<span><span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><span style=\"font-family:georgia;font-size:130%\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p>And found that Mayu had something to say about the monk bowing that Dogen either didn\u2019t know about or didn\u2019t include.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u201cUseless teachers and monks. There are a thousand of them.
