Register by September 3.\n<p><\/p><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Background<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br>100-days of zazen and dharma study will help stabilize and deepen your practice \u2013 if you turn the dharma wheel, the wheel will turn back. It is inspired by the 90 or 100-day practice periods during the rainy season that monks and nuns have done since the Buddha\u2019s days. Katagiri Roshi might have been the first to start non-residential practice periods. The idea is the same:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">make a commitment<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">work your edge<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">and follow through (forgiving yourself when you don\u2019t and beginning again).<br><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">There are two ways to participate. One way is to attend the Thursday night sessions and sesshin as much as possible. The second way is to participate via the web for virtual training.  The practice focus for both modes is daily zazen, giving life to the twenty-four hours, and Dogen\u2019s <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Genjokoan<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">. The virtual and nonvirtual practitioners will come together and create community through interactions on the Wild Fox Blog (see below for specifics).<br><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Attending in the flesh<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br>Those who are in the non-virtual practice period will have a study session on Thursday nights from 6:30-8:30 (except the Thursday night before the monthly sesshin, September 17, October 29, December 10). Following each session, I\u2019ll write a blog post about our conversation as we work through <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Genjokoan<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"> bit by bit. Also, participants are expected to attend sesshin as much as possible: September 11-13, October 30 \u2013 November 1, December 11-13.\n<p><\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Cyber (virtual) participation<br><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">To support your practice and build community, an online seminar via Webex will occur at<br>1pm (CST\/CDT) Saturdays, September 12, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24; November 7, 14, 21; and December 5 and 19\n<p>Participants must have the computer capacity for Webex (<\/p><\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/try.webex.com\/meet\/sem\/web_conferencing2.htm?CMP=KNC-sem&amp;TrackID=1011874&amp;hbxref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com%2Fsearch%3Fq%3Dwebex%26ie%3Dutf-8%26oe%3Dutf-8%26aq%3Dt%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aofficial%26client%3Dfirefox-a&amp;CMP=CMP=KNC-sem&amp;semid=G14.011.008.webex&amp;goid=WebexUS_1011874\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">click here<\/span><\/a><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">) and headphones (microphone preferred). I use the Plantronics Headset (<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newegg.com\/Product\/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826265067\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">~$35 from Newegg<\/span><\/a><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"> \u2013 although you might get it for cheaper with discounts).\n<p><\/p><\/span><\/div>\n<p><span><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Summary of requirements for everybody<br><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Sit zazen and chant the <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Heart Sutra<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"> at least five of seven days each week (if you\u2019ve been practicing for less than one year, I recommend a sitting commitment of at least 30 minutes; if you\u2019ve been practicing for more than one year, I recommend a commitment of at least 60 minutes)<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Study selections from <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Genjokoan<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"> and provided commentaries<br><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Comment on the <\/span><span style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">Genjokoan<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"> blog posts<\/span><span><span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">, responding to issues raised, raising other issues, and interacting with other\u2019s too, of course.
