Through the window to the left is a bunch of cows, completing the midwestern Zen experience, moo\u2019s and all.\u00a0 There were also a couple roosters nearby who nicely heralded the rising sun each day.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">I drove down for sesshin to continue my koan play, thinking it\u2019d be fun to see what koan work was like with another teacher. Just to be clear, I haven\u2019t at all jumped from the Boundless Way ship and will be going to sesshin in late July with the Boundless Way folks too.\u00a0 <\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">The itinerant teacher, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rocksandclouds.org\/daniel-terragno-roshi\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Daniel Terragno<\/a> (like James Ford) is a successor of <a href=\"http:\/\/pacificzen.org\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">John Tarrant<\/a> but when John went independent from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bisbeelotussangha.org\/historydiamond.htm\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Diamond Sangha<\/a>, Daniel stayed with them.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">I\u2019ve known Daniel for more than a decade as a colleague, enjoying time with him whenever I can, like at meetings and such. Once we slipped out of an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.americanzenteachers.org\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">AZTA<\/a> meeting in San Francisco and drove to Mill Valley to have a lovely evening with mutual friends.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">As a teacher, Daniel struck me as well trained and deeply settled. I learned some important things about koan practice and teaching from him that I\u2019m very grateful for.<\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">If the size of the group were really dependent on the quality of the teaching, this guy would have a really big group. But Daniel is strikingly nondramatic and nonpromotional so works with small groups in Sebastopol, Chile, Argentina, and in Ohio.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">The Diamond-Sangha style<\/span><span style=\"font-size: large\"> sesshin <\/span><span style=\"font-size: large\"> <\/span><span style=\"font-size: large\">container was simple, clear, and well managed by the sincere efforts of the sesshin officers. <\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\"><br><\/span><\/div>\n<div style='font-family: Georgia,\"Times New Roman\",serif'><span style=\"font-size: large\">So this here is a hearty recommendation for Daniel and the Yellow Springs group.<\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/4330911338438640912-2760385252026735506?l=wildfoxzen.blogspot.com\" alt=\"\"><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Above is the zendo created at Grailville, a retreat center in Loveland, OH, for the seven-day sesshin of the Yellow Springs Dharma Center.
