This one is from Diane di Prima, quite popular with Katagiri\u2019s students but probably not so well known outside his immediate circle. Diane really captures how it was to hang with the old boy.<\/span>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">A pleasure.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">We talk of here &amp; there<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">gossip about the folks in San Francisco<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">laugh a lot. I try<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">to tell him (to tell someone)<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">what my life is like:<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">the hungry people, the trying<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0to sit zazen in motels;<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">the need in America like a sponge<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0sucking up<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">whatever prana &amp; courage<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u201cPray to the Bodhisattvas\u201d sez\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0Katagiri Roshi.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">I tell him<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">that sometimes, travelling, I am<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">to restless to sit still, wiggle &amp;\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0itch. \u201cSit<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">only ten minutes, five minutes<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">at a time\u201d he sez \u2013 first time<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">it has occurred to me that this\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">wd be OK.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">As I talk, it becomes OK<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">there becomes some continuity\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">in my life; I even understand<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0(or remember)<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">why I\u2019m on the road.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\"><br><\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">As we talk a continuity, a<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0transfer of energy<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">takes place.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">It is <\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-style: italic\"><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">darshan<\/span><\/span><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">, a blessing,<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">transmission of some basic joy<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">some way of seeing.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">LIKE A TANGIBLE GIFT IN THE HAND<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">\u00a0in the heart.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span class=\"Apple-style-span\" style=\"font-size:medium\">It stays with me.<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"blogger-post-footer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1\" height=\"1\" src=\"https:\/\/blogger.googleusercontent.com\/tracker\/4330911338438640912-1569214568032150653?l=wildfoxzen.blogspot.com\" alt=\"\"><\/div>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here\u2019s another blessing poem.
