\u201cIf you take them to the dokusan room,\u201d said Yasutani Roshi, \u201cthey make a wonderful koan. If you start to lecture even a little bit you\u2019ll be chased out of the dokusan room by the master\u2019s bell.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Indeed, because it is so simple, it takes so long to clarify.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Yet Bokusan Roshi skillfully recaps Dogen, \u201c\u2026Falling and blooming arise from clinging and dislike.\u201d<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
These words a practitioner takes to heart, pinning them on the inside of his\/her clothing, carrying them on the pilgrimage of this life, digesting them again and again.<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Our usual upside down view is that clinging and dislike arise from falling and blooming. You might dismiss these words \u2013 but in so doing, you lose your life. Or you might stop and live it immediately.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

What is the truth to live that is pointed to here?\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

<\/span><\/div>\n
Our life is what we attend to\u2026so close, so close.<\/span><\/div>\n
