179. Dharma<\/a> Discourse<\/a><\/p>\n

[Dogen] said:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>The World-Honored One said, \u201cWhen one person opens up reality and returns to the source, all space in the ten directions disappears.\u201d<\/p>\n

Teacher Wuzu of Mount Fayan said, \u201cWhen one person opens up reality and returns to the source, all space in the ten directions crashes together resounding everywhere.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Zen Master Yuanwu Keqin of Jiashan said, \u201cWhen one person opens up reality and returns to the source, in all space in the ten directions flowers are added on to brocade.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teacher Fuxing Fatai said, \u201cWhen one person opens up reality and returns to the source, all space in the ten directions is simply all space in the ten directions.\u201d<\/p>\n

My late teacher Tiantong [Rujing] said, \u201cAlthough the World-Honored One made the statement, \u2018When one person opens up reality and returns to the source, all space in the ten directions disappears,\u2019 this utterance cannot avoid becoming an extraordinary assessment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Tiantong is not like this.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>When one person opens up reality and returns to the source, a mendicant breaks his rice bowl.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
