\u201cThese 100 classic koans \u2014 all at least 800 years old in their original form \u2014 in translation, with commentary, are surely a great starting point. The language and tone are playful and accessible. The translator\/commentator talks of \u201csharing these goodies with you,\u201d and that\u2019s the presentation feel of what could have been a dry affair. There\u2019s a lot of Zen scholarship that seems designed only for \u201cinsiders.\u201d This is not that kind of book.\u201d<\/p>\n
