Update 4:15 pm CST:
Michael Cohen pleaded guilty in court today in front of a Federal Judge. In a statement to the court, he told the judge he committed the crimes “in coordination and at the direction” of a Presidential Candidate. The crimes he referred to were a payment made of $130,000 to Stormy Daniels and a payment of $150,000 to the National Enquirer.
Cohen admitted to the court that the payments were made to suppress damaging information from influencing the election. He said the direction to make the payments came from the Presidential Candidate.
Did you hear that folks?
Cohen is saying a sitting President instructed him to break the law.
He pleaded guilty to a total of eight counts. Michael Cohen is now a convicted felon for tax evasion, campaign finance violations, and false bank statements. Cohen failed to disclose more than $4.1 million in income between the years of 2012-2016.
Trump is not charged in this matter. However, Cohen implicated Trump as a co-conspirator to the crimes.
Cohen will be sentenced in December.
The Washington Post reports that Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen will plead guilty to several charges today. According to their sources, Cohen will plead guilty to tax fraud, bank fraud, and campaign finance violations. Cohen will face a Federal Judge today at 4 pm Eastern Standard Time.
The hearing and plea agreement come after months of investigations done by a grand jury. The investigation included reviewing the business records, financial records, a taxi business, and hush agreements Cohen made on behalf of Presiden Trump during the 2016 Presidential Election.
Michael Cohen surrendered to the FBI earlier this afternoon. According to sources, the plea will include jail time and a substantial monetary fine. Sources also indicate that Cohen is not required to cooperate with the government on other cases as a part of this plea.
The prosecutors from the U.S. Attorney’s office are expected to speak following court proceedings.
The plea and arrest of Michael Cohen is a massive blow for President Trump. Michael Cohen worked closely with Trump for more than a decade. He called himself the “fixer.” He prided himself on cleaning up Trump’s messes. Most notably silencing women with hush agreements like Stormy Daniels prior to the election. A payment of $130,000 to Daniels days before the 2016 election was a focus of the investigation.
I’ll be waiting with baited breath.
