A woman in Oregon is going viral for all the wrong reasons. On Wednesday, Selina Cairel uploaded a video to her friends. The video is less than 30 seconds, but the damage is done. The woman, in a white car, makes racist comments about the legal citizenship status of Selina, a woman of Asian descent. The video stats of this morning show more than 1.4 million views.
In the post from Facebook, Selina says, “It started when she had said in the most demeaning Poor excuse of a supposed “Asian” accent that “She’s Asian, she can’t see that’s why she can’t drive.” I was parked next to her, and I did not instigate this at all. She was the one to pull out her phone first saying “ this should go on Instagram” and started recording me.
Selina further explained that she had just returned to her car after picking donuts from a local shop. She went on to say, ” I never let this pass and wanna make sure this kind of behavior is seen and how people of color encounter this all the time. I wanna make sure she gets seen, and her racist, ignorant behavior is exposed.”
In the video, the woman says to the Selina, “Before you say anything you might want to make sure you’re actually legals, and then I’mma call the cops and let them know.”
Selina asks the woman for clarification, and she responds, “That you’re illegals crossing the border and your parents probably had to work for f’ing dirt just to get here.”
Selina’s friends quickly identified the woman in the video. Sierra Dawn Measselle’s name was called out by numerous commenters. One comment by Alexander Young noted that Measelle got blacklisted from working in her industry as a stripper and lost her job. Sierra also deleted her Facebook and Instagram accounts.
Additional commenters pulled up her criminal history that showed charges for drug possession and her mug shot:
A local news station out of Portland, reports that the woman now has fled the city due to the extreme backlash.
Her mother told KOIN Portland that she is “very sorry” and she realizes she “made a mistake.” As if it matters, the mother went on to say her daughter is a Native American descent from a tribe in Alaska. I am not sure her nationality justifies her racist comments, mom. But, whatever.
Additionally, the woman’s former employer got into the mix and was forced to make a statement regarding her racist rant. Apparently, the woman formally worked as a stripper at Stars Cabaret Bridgeport. Management from the club released a statement to KOIN. Club manager Rany Kaiser said she hadn’t worked there for more than six months.
He continued, “Anybody who’s associated with conduct that’s embarrassing to the club and contrary to our beliefs, they would no longer be associated with the club. In America, people have a right to be ignorant. We have the right to not associate with that. And she can be a racist somewhere else.”
For everyone wondering, Selina posted a picture of her passport hours later to prove her legal citizenship. She captioned it, “Promise I’m legal, guys.”
