A leaked video of Tony Robbins shows the self-help “guru” using racial slurs and telling African Americans to stop allowing the N word to control their lives.
In a video recorded in the 1980s and shared by Buzzfeed, Tony Robbins stands before a small group of people. During his presentation, he shares with the audience an experience he had at a predominantly “militant black” event. Buzzfeed released the video as a part of their series to expose Tony Robbins as a sexist, racist, and harmful snake-oil salesman.
After the event, Robbins said several people challenged him to stop using only “white examples” during his presentations. Robbins admits on camera that he told the people that until they stop being offended about racial matters, they will never “be free.”
Then the video gets even weirder. Robbins tells the group that getting angry at someone calling them a “n**ger’ gives the person absolute control. Next, Robbins insists that getting mad by the word shows a lack of control and makes people of color “still a slave.”
He then goes on to tell the group that he wants them to be free. Robbin says, “I’m free because I’m white.”
After the crowd makes audible gasps, Robbins breaks out in a song and dance. He asks all the people in the room with him.
Robbins beginning singing,
” I’m a ni**er, you’re a ni**er, be a ni**er too.”
While the video was made in the 1980s, the techniques used by Robbins remain consistent with his teachings today. Robbins teaches people to stop allowing themselves to be “victims” to society.
Through his books and seminars, Robbins downplays rape, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and racial inequalities.
Instead, Robbins urges people not to let people control their minds. The self-proclaimed “guru” believes that victimhood allows people to control and manipulate the people in their lives.
Since the publishing of Buzzfeed’s article about Robbin’s questionable behavior, more people have come forward to share their experiences. Four more women that worked for Robbins accused him of sexual harassment and sexual misconduct. For his part, Robbins calls the Buzzfeed articles “hit pieces” that are designed to damage and ruin his career. When Buzzfeed reached out to Robbins regarding the racial slurs, his lawyers called the event “well received.”
The lawyers went on to say,
“It is evident that after the BuzzFeed article authored by you regarding our clients was so thoroughly rejected and ignored by the public, that BuzzFeed has now resorted to scouring the internet for any historical content featuring Mr. Robbins that you can attempt to spin a negative fashion.”
Robbins cannot escape his past no matter how hard he tries. He is a man that has used his power and influence to scam millions of people around the world. The self-proclaimed guru uses outdated and sexist teachings that trick people into believing victimhood isn’t real.
Robbins has no college degree or any formal training in the field of psychology. Additionally, Robbins holds no certifications or licenses to practice therapy of any kind. Without a shred of education, Robbins has manipulated millions around the world into paying him for terrible advice.
