Amber Portwood and Andrew Glennon were discussing marriage in the months leading up to the violent attack that resulted in her arrest. The news of the pending nuptials follows a cryptic meme that Portwood shared on Instagram that insinuated Andrew Glennon cheated on her. Andrew Glennon broke his silence on Instagram related to the attack.
According to a source connected to the couple, Andrew Glennon was fully committed to his girlfriend of two years. Despite rumors that Glennon cheated on Portwood, sources insist that Glennon was always faithful to Amber Portwood.
In fact, Andrew Glennon was so serious about Amber Portwood that the two were discussing marriage. According to USWeekly, Andrew Glennon discussed wedding locations with MTV producers for the show.
“He has spoken about marriage on numerous occasions and has even mentioned a list of possible wedding destinations to the MTV production team in the past,” a source tells Us Weekly exclusively. “His friends have attested to his faithfulness and genuine intentions with Amber often.”
Rumors began circulating last week after Amber Portwood shared a meme on Instagram that read, “Cheating is a choice, not a mistake.” Shortly after Portwood shared the meme, she deleted the image from her Instagram. She has not publically spoken since her arrest on July 5, 2019.
Quickly, Teen Mom OG fans believed the meme was directed towards Andrew Glennon. Rumors began circulating that Andrew Glennon had a relationship with another woman who was pregnant. However, those rumors were shot down by Amber’s brother, Shawn Portwood, calling them “not true.”
Then a friend of Portwood’s spoke to USWeekly about issues that developed in the couple’s relationship. According to the source, Amber Portwood learned more about her boyfriend that concerned her. As Portwood figured out more about her Glennon, the friend said she began to doubt her relationship with Glennon.
Additionally, the source referenced Amber’s history of dating men that have used her for fame. The source said that Amber did not want to be made a fool by Andrew Glennon. Despite the assertions by the source, the information she learned would not justify attacking Glennon and her son with a shoe and machete. The source downplayed the incident and said the entire fight between them had been “misconstrued.”
After Amber Portwood’s source dragged Andrew Glennon, a source connected to Glennon spoke to USWeekly. The source insisted that Andrew was never unfaithful. Also, the source said that Andrew only ever had Amber’s best intentions in mind. They denied that Andrew used Amber for fame or mistreated her in any way.
However, the first source tells Us that “Andrew has been nothing but faithful and loving to Amber since the day they met. All he wanted was a happy family with Amber, but her lack of self-care with her mental disorders and choosing not to take her medications regularly has caused great stress among the two.”
Andrew Glennon addressed the rumors about the events on July 5 in a post on Instagram. A fan asked him whether the rumors were true that he made up the story about Amber to frame her. Andrew denied the framed Portwood and told the fan the events were real and very scary.
An affidavit for the incident states that Amber Portwood wielded a machete against Andrew Glennon and her son. When Glennon hid behind an office door, the court documents say she slashed the door and kicked the door handle off.
Amber Portwood is facing three felonies for the violent events from that evening. She will be in court this week for her first pre-trial hearing. Portwood spent time in prison in 2011 for an attack on her fiance Gary Shirley. Based upon Indiana sentencing guidelines, she could spend 2.5 years in prison if she’s convicted.
Whether Amber Portwood felt her boyfriend betrayed her, domestic violence is never an appropriate response. She has a long history of fighting, hitting, and attacking people in her life. Sources connected to Portwood hope this incident will help her finally turn her life around.
“This entire incident may just save her life,” the source says, adding that Glennon’s family loves the reality TV star and wants “to see her get the help she should have received when she was with [ex-fiancé] Gary [Shirley].”
