Indigenous religions is one of the first units in my World Religion class. Here\u2019s an article<\/a> about the Yoruba, an indigenous West African religion. It\u2019s older than Christianity and Islam. Now it\u2019s gaining followers in America.<\/p>\n

According to the NPR<\/a> story, it\u2019s gaining followers because \u201cit offers a spiritual path and a deep sense of cultural belonging.\u201d \u00a0It\u2019s also popular to African Americans because it \u201coffers them an ancient spiritual heritage, one that pre-dates slavery in the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
