Here, the Seattle Seahawks turn to the <a href='https:\/\/www.patheos.com\/library\/buddhism' target='_blank'>Buddhist<\/a> and Hindu practice of meditation \u00a0to better focus their players\u2019 minds.Seattle Seahawks coach, Pete Carroll, asks his players not only to work out their bodies, but also their minds. With sports psychologist Mike Gervais, Carroll begins many workout sessions with six minutes of meditation. While not required, Gervais says about 20 players usually show up.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: left;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0A<a href=\"http:\/\/espn.go.com\/nfl\/story\/_\/id\/9581925\/seattle-seahawks-use-unusual-techniques-practice-espn-magazine\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ccording to the story in ESPN<\/a>, \u201cthe big idea is that happy players make for better players.\u201d \u00a0Coaches frown on yelling and swearing and players end interviews with a \u201cthank you.\u201d \u00a0It\u2019s all about positive thinking. And get this: \u201c<em>in a trial program entering its second year, a group of 15 to 20 players is undergoing Neurotopia brain-performance testing and has worked with Gervais to create status profiles \u2014 updated every week on an iPad app \u2014 of what\u2019s going on in their lives, how much sleep they\u2019re getting, their goals and how they\u2019re dealing with stressors.<\/em>\u201c<\/p>\n<\/body><\/html>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It seems that elements of religion permeate every aspect of our lives.
