In the late 60\u2019s and 70\u2019s,he studied Buddhism and meditation in India, Myanmar, and Thailand. In the United States, he traveled the Buddhist circuit and taught mediation, for free, \u00a0practicing \u00a0the Buddhist tradition of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/dharmawisdom.org\/teachings\/articles\/meaning-pali-word-dana\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dana <\/a><\/em>or generosity.<\/p>\n<p>Needing to earn money, he began writing a few books on Buddhism. But once, again, he was convinced to give the books away as another <a href=\"http:\/\/dharmawisdom.org\/teachings\/articles\/meaning-pali-word-dana\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">example of <\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/dharmawisdom.org\/teachings\/articles\/meaning-pali-word-dana\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Dana<\/a>. <\/em>\u00a0Finally, he began adding comedy to his mediation workshops, usually at the beginning or the end of each workshop. \u00a0Now, he performs in theaters, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wesnisker.com.\/\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">traveling the Buddha Belt.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>In another story, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2003\/09\/02\/arts\/joke-s-not-funny-blame-it-on-buddha.html\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">The Times reviews Nisker performances<\/a>.
