<\/iframe><\/p>\nSchools across India recently spent a week learning Sanskrit, India\u2019s ancient language,\u00a0with ties to early Indian culture and \u00a0Hinduism.<\/p>\nBut not all Indians are happy with\u00a0this new focus on Sanskrit, mandated by the government elected this spring.<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tamil_people\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tamils <\/a>are the most vocal opponents. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-asia-28755509\" target=\"_blank\" class=\" decorated-link\" rel=\"nofollow\">According to BBC News<\/a>, \u201cthe Tamil language is not derived from Sanskrit and many \u2026see it as a move by Hindu nationalists to impose their culture on religious and linguistic minorities.\u201d<\/p>\nThe government denies this.
