Today is going to be a day of ‘interesting’ comments from yesterday. This one comes from Rebekah.
again your attitudes prove the point perfectly… the majority of Christians don’t take this attitude at all. There are much worse persecutions out there but face it seriously you have become as judgemental and snobbish as those christians are. It’s not wrong to believe in somthing nor is it wrong to state what you believe in but to look down on, talk down to and verbally abuse an entire group of people for believing that Jesus is their savior… come on that just eggs the radical hyper spirituals on… really though didn’t you ever hear if you don’t have anything nice to say??? Don’t you have anything better to write about?
the majority of Christians don’t take this attitude at all
I’m guessing she means the attitude that Christians are somehow put upon. In which case, how much sense does it make to say that most Christians don’t take that position in the same comment you tell me how put upon you are because I sneer at you for your beliefs?
There are much worse persecutions out there but face it seriously you have become as judgemental and snobbish as those christians are.
There are much worse persecutions, like being told you can’t marry who you wish, or being told a collection of unthinking cells has a greater right to your body than you do. Y’know, things that are imposed on people on account of Christianity getting its way. That was the whole point of the post. You don’t get to whine about the trials you face on account of being the posh majority and get sympathy from all the people who have it worse than you.
And I’ve become just as bad? Am I the one saying that I should get to dictate the lives of others because of my position of privilege? Am I the one saying that anybody should accept what I say because I have faith, rather than because I have all the evidence on my side? Am I the one saying it’s uncouth for others to criticize my beliefs as though they’re somehow above criticism?
No, that’s not me at all. So go sing that “you’re just as bad” tune somewhere else.
It’s not wrong to believe in somthing
nor is it wrong to state what you believe in but to look down on, talk down to and verbally abuse an entire group of people for believing that Jesus is their savior
Verbally abuse? Believing that someone rose from the dead without evidence is silly. It’s beneath you. It’s beneath almost everybody who believes it. They can do better. They should do better. Saying someone is wrong is not verbal abuse. Saying someone is horribly, embarrassingly wrong is not verbal abuse.
You know what’s verbal abuse? Telling someone they can either believe as you do or burn for all eternity.
come on that just eggs the radical hyper spirituals on
Telling them their beliefs are terribly wrong eggs them on. The other option is…letting them go unopposed? You should take that comedy act on the road.
And telling them they’re wrong is working. Since atheism has gotten more brazen the number of atheists in literally every state has been on the rise.
And lastly, forgive me if I’m skeptical of a believer telling me the best way to be an atheist activist. I shouldn’t be surprised your advice is to stop being so critical.
really though didn’t you ever hear if you don’t have anything nice to say???
I did. I thought it was stupid. Some things (irrationality, for instance) deserve to be treated with disgust.
Don’t you have anything better to write about?
Irrationality, to my eye, is the cause of the majority of what ails humanity. Good people do positively rotten things because of bad ideas. People see the need to eradicate bad ideas up until they find a religion that tells them being irrational is not just ok if they call it faith, but that they must be irrational or suffer for all eternity. The vessel of religion serves as a Trojan Horse for irrationality.
Is there something better I could write about? No. There isn’t.
