Of course, he’s not running for re-election so his admission doesn’t do much good except as a possible gauge of his colleagues thoughts. Same thing for retiring Representative Brad Miller (D-N.C.) and Senator James Webb (D- Virginia), who announced last year that he will not seek re-election. Julian Pecquet and Sam Baker over at the political blog, The Hill, have the story, (more…) Read more

That’s what it seemed Congress and the Administration said last winter when they fell all over themselves approving the unconstitutional law which strips us of our our rights of habeas corpus, etc. Language like this in that document helped build a foundation for our own Constitution, (more…) Read more

There has been a lot of fur flying around lately regarding prodigal groups (possibly) coming back into the fold, while others get a solid scolding, etc. Since the season of Advent, Catholics have endured changes to the Liturgy and a new version of the Missal, and we’ve had to relearn lines we had memorized since forever. And lately the HHS Mandate has been seen as a galvanizing moment by many, me among them, and only as a distraction by others.... Read more

The Logical Vegetarian by G. K. Chesterton. This was published in Wine, Water, and Song just last week (er, 1915)… “Why shouldn’t I have a purely vegetarian drink? The modest vegetarians ought obviously to stick to wine or beer, plain vegetarian drinks, instead of filling their goblets with the blood of bulls and elephants, as all conventional meat-eaters do, I suppose.” — DALROY. You will find me drinking rum,... Read more
