As I was reading Flannery O\u2019Connor\u2019s first novel Wise Blood<\/em>, I couldn\u2019t help thinking that this was almost tailor made for adaptation to the screen by the Coen Brothers. Then I found out that iconic film director John Huston had made the film version of Wise Blood<\/em> in 1979.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Check out this cast: Brad Dourif<\/a> plays \u201cour hero\u201d Hazel Motes, Harry Dean Stanton(!)<\/a> plays the \u201cblind\u201d preacher Asa Hawks, Ned Beatty(!)<\/a> plays Hazel\u2019s would-be partner Hoover Shoates, and Dan Shor<\/a> plays the would-be sidekick Enoch Emory. Amy Wright<\/a> plays the role of Asa Hawks wacky daughter Sabbath with William Hickey<\/a>(!) as Hoover Shoates\u2019 stand-in replacement for Hazel. And what would a John Huston film be like without John himself<\/a> putting in an appearance too? I don\u2019t remember a character named \u201cGrandfather\u201d but with John\u2019s looks and voice(!) I\u2019m sure it will all work out well.
