\u00a0President Barack Obama said the United States supports religious freedom, despite his administration\u2019s ongoing legal dispute with the Catholic Church and other religious groups.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have made it clear that the United States has a profound respect for people of all faiths,\u201d Obama in his weekly address on Saturday. \u201cWe stand for religious freedom.\u201d<\/p>\n

The president was referring to last week\u2019s attacks on U.S. embassies in the Middle East that killed four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens.<\/p>\n

More than 40 plaintiffs \u2013 including the Catholic Archdioceses of New York and Washington, and the University of Notre Dame \u2013 have filed a dozen separate lawsuits against the Obama administration\u2019s Department of Health and Human Services, which has mandated that employer health insurance cover abortifacients, sterilization and contraception<\/a>.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
