As you will see, that wasn\u2019t meant to be because these were all \u201cone hit wonders.\u201d<br><a name=\"more\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><br>But the following songs were hits because each of them struck a chord with\u00a0listeners, or at least with program directors, back in the heyday of radio. So let\u2019s consider them catholic with a small \u201cc\u201d and have a little fun going down memory lane with what I can remember hearing on the radio or television over the years.<\/p>\n<p>Norman Greenbaum, <em>Spirit in the Sky<\/em> (1969-70) For the longest time, I thought this was played by the band T-Rex.\u00a0 I always liked it growing up, and dug the guitar riffs too. And who doesn\u2019t want to \u201cgo to the place that\u2019s the best?\u201d<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"spirit in the sky Norman Greenbaum\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WPPlGFh6OpQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p>Hillside Singers, <em>I\u2019d Like To Teach The World To Sing<\/em>\u00a0(1972). The song that later became an iconic commercial success for Coca-Cola. I hope you hum it all day long.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"I&#039;d like to teach the world to sing\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/taqLEjCVTdo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sister_Janet_Mead\" class=\" decorated-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Sister Janet Mead<\/a>, <em>The Lord\u2019s Prayer<\/em> (1974). Made it to #4 on Billboards Top 100 back in 1974. A rockin\u2019 nun from South Australia, I remember the tune well.\u00a0\u00a0You all know the words so sing along!<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Bd4iJkNCaZ8\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=Bd4iJkNCaZ8<\/a>\n<p>Patrick Hernandez, <em>Born to be Alive<\/em> (1979) Break out your dancin\u2019 shoes because \u201cyou see we\u2019re born, born, born to be alive (born too be alive.)\u201d I can\u2019t argue with that!<\/p>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7Z3uqztf1wI\">http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7Z3uqztf1wI<\/a>\n<p>The Korgis, <em>Everybody\u2019s Got To Learn Sometime<\/em> (1980). Don\u2019t look know, but we\u2019ve hit the Eighties. Does anyone else remember this tune? A classic catholic one hit wonder if there ever was one. Universal appeal? While we\u2019re at it, does everyone remember the Solid Gold dancers?
