Just when you thought you were safe from hearing anymore about the Super Bowl Halftime Show starring\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9, it turns out you aren\u2019t.<\/p>\n

Many folks were offended by\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s choice in cloths because they were, you know, immodest. \u00a0Some of my blog neighbors, Calah Alexander<\/a>, and Elizabeth Husted Duffy<\/a>\u00a0(wow, that post went viral!), discussed this at length. Taylor Marshall, over at Canterbury Tales, has an opinion too<\/a>.<\/p>\n

My take on her wardrobe? At least there wasn\u2019t any contrived \u201cmalfunctions\u201d to speak of, like that time Janet Jackson was the performer.<\/p>\n

Noting her costume appeared to be made of leather, I shared this verse from Genesis chapter 3 with friends,<\/p>\n

The\u00a0LORD God made for the man and his wife garments of skin, with which he clothed them.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

According to PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), therein lies the problem. The Guardian<\/a> has the details,<\/p>\n

Peta has come down strongly against\u00a0Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s\u00a0recent Super Bowl appearance, complaining that the singer\u2019s scanty costume was made of python, iguana and cow.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The] game was great,\u201d animal rights activists announced,\u00a0according to the New York Daily News. But officials at Peta were much less happy with Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s half-time appearance \u2013 not because of the pyrotechnic electric guitar,\u00a0the subsequent power outage, or even her decision to skip the song, If I Were a Boy. They\u2019re angry about her bodysuit.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would take a bet that if Beyonc\u00e9 watched our video expos\u00e9s, she\u2019d probably not want to be seen again in anything made of snakes, lizards, rabbits or other\u00a0animals\u00a0who died painfully,\u201d Peta said in a statement. \u201cToday\u2019s fashions are trending toward humane vegan options, and Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s Super Bowl outfit missed the mark on that score.\u201d<\/p>\n

The singer\u2019s skintight spectacular was designed by Rubin Singer, who took inspiration from his forthcoming Fall 2013 collection, Valkyrie\u2019s Dominion. The multi-piece jacket, leotard and skirt required 200 hours to assemble,\u00a0E! reported, and incorporated python and iguana skins, trapunto-pick stitched leather, nylon, metal, plastic, silk and Chantilly lace. The only thing missing would seem to be the feathers of Baltimore ravens. \u201cIt\u2019s the biggest moment of my career,\u201d Singer\u00a0told the New York Times.<\/p>\n

This is Beyonc\u00e9\u2019s second animal rights scandal in under a month. Following the singer\u2019s appearance at Barack Obama\u2019s presidential inauguration, activists criticised the singer\u2019s decision to wear a mink coat. \u201cWhat does it mean when one of the most popular musicians in the world endorses the fur trade in such a dramatic way?\u201d Peta wrote. The group has pointed out that first lady Michelle Obama does not wear fur.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
