Father Mario\u2019s message was, The Holy Father has endorsed this new missal, and our new missal it shall be. Changes are mostly to the Canon of the Mass, that is, to the words said by the celebrant; the laity\u2019s \u201cline changes\u201d are limited. <\/p>\n Warren would have smiled to be there, as would Frank, who wrote me an e-mail earlier this evening that read:<\/p>\n I think this may be an example of the \u201cnoise\u201d (changes to the Missal) getting more attention than the \u201csignal\u201d (the truth of Catholic Church teaching).\u00a0 Some times \u201cnoise\u201d lasts an awfully long time. For example, the Jansenist \u201creform\u201d attempts emanating from the Cistercian Abbey of Port Royal lasted from the 1640\u2019s until 1790. Over 150 years of \u201cnoise.\u201d\u00a0 Blaise Pascal was associated with this monastery and this movement before he died in 1662.
