Seriously? I LOL\u2019d. Nice try, Adriana Cohen<\/a>, but you obviously have never been involved in a) contract negotiations, or b)received every businesses\u00a0idea of a good time: the Request For Proposal. You know,\u00a0as your current contract rounds the corner for \u201crenewal,\u201d and your services are put out for bid.<\/p>\n

Enduring water boarding is a bit more civilized than enduring that.<\/p>\n

But don\u2019t listen to Joe Six-Pack.\u00a0\u00a0Because I wasn\u2019t interested in a marriage that only stayed valid as long as my passport did. I don\u2019t think I\u2019m alone in that regard, either.<\/p>\n

In fact, a certain person of the Holy Trinity made Mrs. Cohen\u2019s idea moot<\/a>. Come to think of it, Jesus\u2019s idea was a lot more radical than a hook-up package that dissolves in ten years (whether it needs to, or not).<\/p>\n

After you read Mrs. Cohen\u2019s thoughts<\/a> on this weighty matter, do yourself a favor and read Jennifer Fitz\u2019s more, how shall I put this, Catholic<\/em> response.<\/a><\/p>\n

Here, I\u2019ll give you a taste.<\/p>\n

Dear Adriana,<\/p>\n

This past weekend my husband and I lay in bed together, the lights dim, the room quiet, his head against my side. And he was crying. We were in the emergency room observation ward. He\u2019d stopped in to check on me in between getting groceries, cleaning the house, and taking care of the kids. Like most men, when there\u2019s a task in front of him, he\u2019s good at setting aside his emotions and doing what needs to be done. But like any decent man, he also loves his wife dearly.<\/p>\n

He\u2019d die for me, I\u2019m sure of it.<\/p>\n

Are we extraordinary? No. We\u2019re not. We\u2019re a man and a woman who really liked each other, and so we got married.<\/p>\n

If we\u2019d gotten married under your ten-year-plan, I\u2019m sure we\u2019d have been married ten years and called it quits.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
